A Classic Fall Fashion Outfit with A Twist

Fall is finally here! Hallelujah! We can officially rejoice in the crisp fall air, bright yellow mums, orange and brick red coloured leaves and, Pumpkin Spiced Lattes. The weather is finally cool enough to wear our thick layered scarves, cozy sweaters, boots and faux leather jackets.

NOTE: I am aware that Toronto is currently going through a heatwave but it is expected to cool down on Thursday and you bet I will be wearing the aforementioned fall pieces!

Fall is one of my favourite times of year and I am so glad that I can once again revel in it. With a new season, comes a new wardrobe and a fall wardrobe is my favourite wardrobe. The autumnal season provides so many opportunities to have fun with your outfits because they can be layered to your heart’s content. We no longer need to worry about staying cool when we get dressed which means that we can fully embrace scarves, shawls, capes and one of my favourites, a faux leather jacket.

Quilted Leather Jacket: OLD (similar quilted leather here, here, here, here and here)

I think I own about eight faux leather jackets in an array of colours like bright blue, black of course, a metallic shade and emerald green which you can see here. There is a good reason I own several faux leather jackets and that is its ability to instantly elevate the style factor of any outfit. Whether you are wearing a dress, a skirt or sleek pants, a faux leather jacket just works. In this fall fashion outfit, I am wearing a quilted leather jacket which is also one of my favourite faux leather jackets even though they all have a special place in my heart.

I remember first seeing a quilted leather jacket a few years ago on Pippa Middleton. It was shortly after the Royal Wedding between the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Pippa had become an overnight sensation. Every blog, website, magazine and entertainment news show could not get enough of Pippa’s outfits. Known for her prim, proper and approachable style, Pippa’s outfits were easy to replicate. When I first saw her in a quilted leather jacket I knew that I had to have one.

Animal and Heart Print Scarf: OLD (similar animal and heart print scarf here, here, here, here and, here)

What I loved about the quilted leather jacket was that the quilting added a classic touch to the edgy look. Quilting is synonymous with classic, timeless fashion and to see it combined with a tough look was intriguing to me and I just had to have a quilted leather jacket. After looking for a quilted leather jacket at all of my favourite stores, I unfortunately could not find the jacket! But I did not give up hope and kept believing that a quilted faux leather jacket would one day be mine – two years later it was! During my first vacation to London, England, my mother and I decided to visit some of the major neighbourhoods of the city which landed us in Camden Market which had an array of clothing vendors. Lucky for me, one of the clothing vendors had a quilted faux leather jacket that fit perfectly. Naturally, I snatched it up and the rest is history.

Oxblood Rebecca Minkoff Bag (similar bag here, here, here, here and here)

For this outfit, I decided to accessorize my favourite quilted faux leather jacket with this heart and animal print scarf. I love me some animal print and I couldn’t think of a better way to express my love than by wearing an animal print scarf with hearts on it. Not only is red my colour but it also looks super chic when paired with the neutral tones of this scarf. The combination of my printed scarf and quilted faux leather jacket works because they are both classic fashion pieces that can elevate any look they are paired with and they both exude attitude.

My handbag of choice is my oxblood Rebecca Minkoff bag. Can we take a moment to appreciate this bag? Here are three reasons why I love my oxblood Rebecca Minkoff bag: 1) The rich colour, 2) the unconventional quilted detail and, 3) the size which is big enough to fit my glasses, wallet, phone, keys and lipstick. This handbag clearly is a seamless fit for this outfit because yet again it is another piece that follows along with the classic with a twist theme. I also love how the rich oxblood colour stands out against the all black outfit and printed scarf. This outfit will definitely be on repeat all autumn long.

  1. I love this quilted leather jacket and saw the green one which you mentioned, loved that too!! In India – Delhi we can’t wear leather jackets as it don’t gets that cold here. But would love one for myself for any of my future travels to colder places.

  2. So when I first saw the look I thought Sandy from Grease at the end when she wears the black ensemble. I liked that you gave it your own twist, with the pop of red and the animal prints paired with the black really helps with them to make them pop out.
